Great music, good company, and delicious food this weekend!

We’re getting excited for our third annual Shaver’s Creek Music Festival coming up this Sunday, September 30, 2012! From 1:00–6:00 p.m., gather around our beautiful timber-frame stage and kick off your fall with a foot-stomping good time. With a beautiful forest backdrop, enjoy fantastic local folk, rock, bluegrass, and Americana music from Pure Cane Sugar, Grain, and Dreams and Bones. Delicious food from Eden View Organics and Standing Stone Coffee Company will also be on sale.

Dreams and Bones is an acoustic quartet that formed in the fall of 2009. Their songs are a mix of original Americana compositions, classic folk tunes, and acoustic rock from the past four decades. Their unique blend of instrumental arrangements and vocal harmonies are both tasteful and powerful. Listen here.

Next on stage is Graina group of four friends who have been playing Appalachian Mountain music together for nearly a decade. Influenced by styles ranging from bluegrass and blues to gypsy jazz and grunge, Grain blends tight vocal harmonies with potently precise instrumentals to perform original songs and high-octane arrangements of American classics. Listen here.

The festival will then draw to an exciting close with local favorite Pure Cane Sugar—sultry voices, soulful harmonies, and powerful lyrics that create an “assemblage of masterful melodies and haunting harmonies that inspire sweet dreams”. With accompanying artists Daniel Collins on fiddle and Daryl Branford on drums, their original, artful arrangements are captured on a backdrop of textured synergy and rhythm. Listen here.

As an added bonus between sets, Shaver’s Creek volunteers will offer a Meet the Birds of Prey program with some of resident raptors.

Tickets are on sale now around State College and Huntingdon —only $5 for students, seniors, and Shaver’s Creek members, and $10 for adult nonmembers. Children 6 and under are free! This year’s Music Festival is made possible through the support of Shaver’s Creek members, the Arts Endowment for Shaver’s Creek, HappyValley.com, ClearWater Conservancy, and Appalachian Outdoors.

Pick up your tickets today at Appalachian Outdoors or Wiscoy for Animals in State College, at Standing Stone Coffee Company in Huntingdon, or at Whipple Dam Store in Petersburg. You can also preorder tickets by calling Shaver’s Creek at 814-863-2000, or stop by the Creek seven days a week, 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
