Community Nature Journaling

Join Shaver’s Creek staff Alexa Sarussi for a free, in-person morning of nature journaling. This month, join us at Shaver’s Creek for a morning of searching for, learning about, and sketching nests! Shaver’s Creek’s Citizen Science Coordinator Jon Kauffman will share his knowledge and experience from installing and checking hundreds of nest boxes over the years. We’ll observe preserved nests indoors and take a short walk along a trail to look for vacated nests. 

All ages, families, and individuals are welcome. We encourage parents to bring children who express genuine interest in nature drawing, but ask that they monitor their behavior. Youth participants must be accompanied by an adult participant.
