International Vulture Day is coming up! Join us at Shaver’s Creek to learn all about these often under-appreciated but vital members of our ecosystem with acclaimed author, educator, and avian trainer Katie Fallon!

In addition to writing Vulture: The Private Life of an Unloved Bird and Cerulean Blues: A Personal Search for a Vanishing Songbird, Katie is a founder of the Avian Conservation Center of Appalachia and a member of the International Association of Avian Trainers and Educators. Katie has worked with birds since 1998 and is a renowned name in the avian training and education space. We are delighted to have her join us here at Shaver’s Creek for this special talk. Learn more about Katie and her work.

This hour-long program will include a 45-minute presentation from Katie, with additional time for questions and book signings. Limited copies of Katie’s book, Vulture, will be available for purchase in our bookstore ahead of the event. To reserve a copy for purchase (while supplies last), please contact our Visitor Center by calling 814-863-2000. You are also welcome to bring your own copy to be signed.
